There comes a time in every person’s life when the table is set before you. You know, the Psalm 23:5 table that God sets before you in the presence of your enemies? While I don't personally have any enemies by worldly definition, there unfortunately, are people that have intentionally wronged me still gleefully walking this earth.
Well, I recently had a table set before me. All I had to do was answer some questions truthfully. However, I knew, for this particular request, the truths of the person in question had the potential of causing harm, aka blocking their blessing.
Because I am not wired with malice, seeking revenge, nor laced with bitterness, (thank you Holy Spirit and John Bevere) I made what I believe was a decision that glorified God and allowed me to maintain my integrity. I declined to provide a response. What I wasn't going to do is lie for them.
I also will not lie and say after declining I didn’t ponder and think...dang, was that the table? lol (I'm saved and God is still working on me y'all.) However, I know God’s table won’t require me to set the place mats. Additionally, Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:43-46, "You have heard that it was said, "Love your neighbor" and "Hate your enemy." But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons [and daughters] of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Do not even tax collectors do the same?"
Once again, this person that intentionally harmed me, unknowingly received mercy due to my decision to live the LOVEWAY. Maybe it was all just a test for me from God; time will tell. If so, I Job'ed that test. (that's bible lol) I did not use the sword that was placed in my hand to cut and serve them the most delicious slice of humble pie, and that my love, is the LOVEWAY. It's not always easy but it's so worth it.
I subsequently reflected on this quote I ran across a few years ago by Bishop T.D. Jakes, "The real test of character is what you do with power. What do you do when you have the advantage?"
Live the LOVEWAY,
Ebony
